...Cuellar was a guest potter at Christianson’s studio for the last two years of the Minnesota Potters of the St. Croix Valley Studio Tour and Sale, but in 2009, he will become one of the seven host potters.
"Guillermo working with [MacKenzie] not in an academic setting, but in his studio off and on for those many years was a wonderful thing," Christianson said. "Of our pottery group, Guillermo is the only one to have that relationship with Warren."
Beyond pottery, Christianson said Cuellar will be successful because of his ability to connect with other people....

...As far as forthcoming releases, Lazardi is thinking big and long-term,
meaning he's building his own studio. "Two songs are coming out this
year on South Records, the record label of my friend, DJ-producer Tom
Sawyer from Panama. By the end of the year, I'll have my own record
label, called World Sounds."...
...For their work unearthing and performing Baroque women's music, Gutiérrez and La Donna Musicale, which she founded, have earned glowing reviews in early music journals and respect from those who have heard them perform. But they - and the women whose music they play - have remained relatively little-known in America.
Now, bolstered by a prestigious fellowship from the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study and looking forward to a three-continent autumn tour that begins today with a concert at Ellingwood Chapel in Nahant, the group is on the cusp of earning wider recognition....
...Molliet, who’s professional background includes experience in marketing
and interior design, was born in Venezuela, and enjoyed a peripatetic
childhood as the daughter of hoteliers, living in dozens of cities
across the world, before ending up in Muscat just before the Gulf War
in 1991. She returned a decade or so later, and visited the Bait Muzna
gallery, to find a charming, if somewhat inchoate collection of items
on display. A meeting with the then owner ended up with Molliet
accepting the task of taking over the running of the place. Two years
on, and thanks to Molliet’s efforts, Bait Muzna, renovated to the tune
of Dh91,825, is now regarded region-wide, as the hub of contemporary
Omani art...
...Carnahan told Chud.com in an email that Edgar Ramirez, a Venezuelan actor seen most recently on British screens in Vantage Point and The Bourne Ultimatum, was 99% certain to take the role.
"I spent the last week in Colombia with Edgar Ramirez talking Pablo and he has every intention of portraying Escobar and I couldn't be more fired up by the prospect," wrote Carnahan. "He's coming at it with boundless enthusiasm, conviction to the role and the understanding that he's going to have to pack on anywhere from 35 to 40lbs."...

...Electra Avellan (Grindhouse), the spirited young Venezuelan actress, said: "The moment I was given the script I knew that I had to do it. It hit home."
She attributes this to her father: "I grew up with the philosophy that everything you do you are 100 percent responsible for; your ego is not who you are. Finally," she beamed, "something I can show the world on a big scale how I feel about my life, the philosophy of my life."...
..."Yeah, I've been involved in few different projects," says Cuevas. "That's where I've gotten most of the influences that I bring into my music now, it's mostly from the things I've learned being able to perform with other people. What I do with my band is not really traditional, it's more of a mix of everything."
Including jazz. As much as Latin people, it's the jazz audience that has embraced her enthusiastically. Two CDs in, she's a tour veteran who garners reviews like "Canada's emerging Latin music queen" and "subtle, strong, elegant, sophisticated yet simple." In Germany, where she's been especially well received, they call what she does "musical class on an international level."...
