Clara Rodriguez returns to the Wigmore Hall with a programme where her lavish talent and latin ardour will be in evidence. She has chosen works close to her heart from the Iberia Suite in which Isaac Albéniz translates into music the richness of the Spanish landscapes and the magic of the Cante-hondo, then, colours of a different nature will radiate from the exciting five Venezuelan songs and dances, in a selection that includes the very popular Alma llanera by Pedro Elías Gutiérrez and Caballo viejo by Simón Díaz. In the second half of the concert Clara Rodríguez will play the 4th Ballade and the 3rd Sonata, two masterpieces of Chopin's richest maturity.

...E. J. Viso (R): Venezuelan-born driver has been fast all month,
although he hit the wall during practice. Criticized for being a
reckless driver by his competitors. Pro: Fast, aggressive and knows how
to win. Con: Driving for former Champ Car team.
Milka Duno:
Third female driver in the field who came to Indy cars after winning in
sports cars. Struggled to find speed last year, not much better this
year, but should finish. Pro: Driving for Dreyer & Reinbold this
year. Con: Many consider Duno to be a moving chicane...
...Open a month now, the latest Orinoco has had a rather charmed life so far. With limited press and scant chatter on Chowhound, it's the little restaurant that doesn't have to promote itself, a fine example of what Boston needs more of: a place that exudes Friday-night verve with a menu that delights the palate and leaves the pocketbook intact...
Nortec Collective captures feel of Tijuana's cultural fusion
...What's worse, the everyday crossing of the border into California has become increasingly tedious. "After Sept. 11, it's become much more difficult to cross the border legally," said Fussible. "The guys on the border treat you like you're 'America's Most Wanted.'" The track called "Wanted" touches in this in a sardonic way, featuring the sing-song vocals of Argenis Brito, a Venezuelan singer who is more known for his work with Germany-based Senor Coconut...

Waiting lines are commonplace at Orinoco: A Latin Kitchen, the tiny Venezuelan restaurant in the South End. The prices are reasonable, the food is satisfying and there just aren’t enough seats.
Once a table opens up, glasses of sugary, fruit cocktail-studded, white sangria will make the minutes speed by as you consider what to order...
...Schmidt’s bold step in employing a Venezuelan singer, Argenis Brito, and a big Latin band to pay homage to Kraftwerk’s Asian counterparts, The Yellow Magic Orchestra, paid huge dividends with the 2006 Yellow Fever album. By then, Senor Coconut’s reputation was such that all three original YMO members (Harvomi Hosono, Yukihiro Takahashi and Ryuichi Sakamoto) ended up playing on the album....
Young Carolina Herrera knows that beauty doesn't have to be complicated
...Carolina Herrera (Jr)'s initial career choice was medicine. She studied biopsychology at Vassar College and hoped to one day become a doctor. After graduating in 1992, she worked at a laboratory in New York and "quickly decided" it wasn't for her. While at a party in the city, she met a film director who chatted to her about a new project. It wasn't long after that she moved to Spain to produce her first documentary. Maletilla, released in 2003, tells the story of Spain's would-be bullfighters- some of them as young as 12.
Even with the roles of fragrance creator, film producer and campaign model, Herrera calls her roles as wife and mother easily the most fulfilling....

In "Gabriel", the renowned Venezuelan actor and singer Jose Luis Rodriguez will play Pizarro, the bloodthirsty Spanish conquistador-turned-nightstalker. In the storyline, Pizarro is cursed by an Incan priestess as revenge for destroying her village. Gabriel (played by international superstar Chayanne) is a modern day vampire and a tortured soul whose only hope of salvation lies in reuniting with his reincarnated soulmate, Eva (played by Mexican starlet Angelica Celaya), who was herself murdered by Pizarro over 300 years ago. Upon learning of her reincarnation, Pizarro sets out once again to rob Gabriel of his long-lost love...
