Venezuelan Expressions 2008 is Casa de Venezuela’s showcase event that features Venezuelan and Latin-American artists and musicians who live in the Delaware Valley. This year the event will take place on Sunday, October 12 at the Painted Bride Art Center located on 230 Vine Street Philadelphia, PA 19106.
Among the selective group of performers there are:
- The Ensemble of Music of Casa de Venezuela
- The Group of Traditional Venezuelan Dances of Casa de Venezuela
- A virtuoso string ensemble formed by Venezuelan musicians, Belmary Lorcas (violin), Adriana Linares (viola) & Jose Puentes (bass), former members of the well-known Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra, &
- The Afro-Venezuelan Ensemble Tambores de San Juan.
These artists will present a series of musical and dance performances that highlight the rich folkloric heritage of Venezuela, this year the theme is Venezuela’s Traditional Festivities a journey through the different cultural manifestations that take place in various regions in Venezuela.. Venezuelan Expressions 2008 will introduce the audience to the diverse musical influences - indigenous, African, Caribbean, European and Middle Eastern, to name a few - that are prevalent throughout Latin-America. Last year, the event was held at the International House in the University of Pennsylvania and it was enjoyed by more than 250 people, whom were delighted with the performance.
Hosted by Venezuelan Zenddy Caicedo-Tintle; weather news anchor from WFMZ 69 ‘Noticias en Español’.
Come and enjoy "Venezuelan Expressions 2008" on October 12th, 2008, at 5:00pm at the Painted Bride Art Center in Philadelphia. A cocktail reception will follow after the event for sponsors, volunteers, supporters and the media.
