Richard
Garet
Richard was born in 1972, in Montevideo, Uruguay, and he spent most
of his youth in Caracas, Venezuela. In 1996 he immigrated to the US
to pursue further his art. Garet is a painter, a video artist, and a
sound artist whose sources of inspiration are nature’s processes
and the relationships between nature and human beings. Garet currently
lives and works in New York City, where he has performed live and installed
his art in various galleries and institutions, and he has done so throughout
the US, as well.
In 2004 he founded NISUS-Galeria Galou, a new section within Galeria
Galou, which is located in Williamsburg-Brooklyn, with the purpose of
creating a venue devoted to live performances of sound art and video.
In addition, he directs and curates the NISUS-Galeria Galou’s
series.
