ELISABETH ADKINS (Violin)
DMA, MMA, MM, Yale University, BM University of North Texas. Associate concertmaster, National Symphony Orchestra, Concertmaster, Eclipse Chamber Orchestra. Violin faculty, University of Maryland and private studio. Chamber music with the Adkins String Ensemble and a duo with her husband, pianist Edward Newman.

NAIRA BABAYAN (Piano)
Received her BA in Piano Performance from the Komitas National State Conservatory in Yerevan, Armenia and her MA in Piano Accompanying from the Gnessin Pedagogical Academy in Moscow, Russia. Dr. Babayan has taught at the Pedagogical University (Armenia) as Professor of Piano and at Trinity College London in Dubai, UAE. She has performed at the piano throughout Eastern Europe, Russia, the UAE and the United States, and has currently 2 CD recordings featuring native Armenian repertoire (Komitas/Khachaturian/Sayat-Nova), as well as Chopin, Liszt and Debussy.


Melinda Baird

MELINDA BAIRD (Piano, Associate Chair of Strathmore Campus)
DM, Indiana University (in candidacy). Studio assistant to MenahemPressler, Associate Instructor, Indiana University; faculty, IU Young Pianists Program. At Indiana was awarded Chancellor’s Fellowship and John Edwards Fellowship for outstanding service and leadership. MM and BM with Highest Honors, University of Colorado; awarded ‘Outstanding Graduate.’ Founding member, Jordania Trio, and Lambert Duo. Solo and chamber concerts in Israel, France, Germany, Austria, across the US and on both coasts. Co-founded Encore Arts Management, servicing publicity needs of classical musicians.


ANNA BALAKERSKAIA (Piano)
MM and DMA in Piano Performance, Pedagogy, Chamber Music, and Accompaniment from the St. Petersburg State Conservatory, Russia. Former faculty member at Moscow and St. Petersburg State Conservatories. Awarded three times the Best Accompaniment Diploma at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. Faculty member at George Mason University. Teaches at International Summer Music Festivals in Holland, Germany, Italy, and Russia.


KAREN BARTMAN (Suzuki Piano)
Ph.D in Music Education, MA in Music History, and BA in Piano Performance. Dr. Bartman served on the Editorial Board of The American Music Teacher. She is a certified Teacher Trainer for the Suzuki Association of the Americas and has taught Suzuki piano and Teacher trainer courses throughout the US.


 

CHRIS BATTISTONE (Trumpet)
BA in Jazz Education from North Texas State University. Performing credits include the Glenn Miller Orchestra, the Danny Gatton Band, and Ron Holloway. Additional appearances with: James Moody, Harry Connick Jr., Nancy Wilson, Maureen Mc Govern, Jack Jones, Government Mule.


KATHLEEN BAVAAR (Voice)
BA from Hartt College of Music in Hartford, Connecticut; studied voice, piano, and acting. MA candidate in Voice Pedagogy at Westminster Choir College. Ms. Bavaar has acted and sung in many local theater productions, cabaret acts and independent films. Private teaching includes teaching piano for The Yamaha Music Education System.


JOYCE BENNETT (Suzuki Flute)
BA in Flute Performance from American University. Qualified to teach all levels of Suzuki. She has played with the Utah Symphony, the Pacific Palisades Symphony, and the West Valley Chamber Orchestra. She is also a certified Music Mind Games teacher and has taught flute and Music Mind Games at Suzuki Institutes in Utah, Tennessee, Texas, North Carolina, and Washington DC.

BM and MM, Northwestern University, in Harpsichord Performance. Piano Pedagogy with Frances Larimer. Jazz studies with Alan Swain; staff teacher at the Swain Jazz Piano Studios. Leader Bien

LEANDER BIEN (Piano)
Former faculty member of UMass/Amherst, Lehigh University and Moravian College. He has performed and given master classes throughout the US, in Europe and in Southeast Asia. He is the founder/director of the Kinhaven Piano Workshop in Vermont. His compositions are published by Mentor Music.


STEVE BRINEGAR (Horn, Wind Department Chair)
B.M. University of New Mexico. Studied at Yale Summer School of Music. Former member, Monumental Brass Quintet 1989-2002; performances at the Kennedy Center, Meyerhoff Hall; appearances with the New Mexico and Annapolis Symphonies, Honolulu Symphony and Ballet; Musici Americani, Sulmona Italy, summer 1986; member, US Naval Academy Band 1979-1989; former faculty, Anne Arundel Community College and former interim faculty, University of New Mexico.

RISA CARLSON (Classical Guitar, Guitar Department Chair)
M.M., Graduate Performance Diploma, & B.M. Peabody Institute of Music. Student of Manuel Barrueco. Top prizewinner, Guitar Foundation of America International Competition; Baltimore Chamber Music Award; D-Addario National Guitar Summer Workshop Competition and others. Wen-Yin_Chan

WENYIN CHAN (Piano) DMA candidate in Piano Performance at Yale University School of Music, where she also earned her MM. She received her BM in Piano Performance from the Curtis Institute. Ms. Chan has performed as a soloist and chamber musician all over the United States and abroad, including such venues as Carnegie Hall and the Taiwan National Recital Hall. Ms. Chan has also been a prizewinner in many national and international competitions over the last decade.


 

JEFFREY CHAPPELL (Piano, Jazz Piano)
Has performed throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, and Latin America in recitals and with major symphony orchestras. He is also a recording artist and an award-winning composer. He graduated from Curtis Institute and Peabody Conservatory, and is Director of Jazz Studies at Goucher College.


CECILIA CHO (Piano)
Active performer and member of Potomac Trio and Fessenden Ensemble. Received education (BM, MM, DM ABD) from Peabody Conservatory and Indiana University with Ann Schein and Menahem Pressler. First prize winner of many competitions including the Aspen Music Festival Concerto Competition, Baltimore Symphony Soloists Audition, and National Winner of MTNA Baldwin Competition.

JACOB CLARK (Piano)
Originally from Houston Texas, pianist Jacob Clark joined the Levine faculty in the fall of 2006 after completing his BM, MM, and DMA at UT Austin. Recent competitions include being named a prizewinner in the 2004 Sidney Wright Accompanying Competition and the 2004 Janice K. Hodges Contemporary Piano Performance Award. Dr. Clark’s performance credits include recitals in Houston, Austin, San Antonio and Washington, DC.

MM in Flute Performance, Northwestern University; BM, in Flute Performance, The Ohio State University. Youngest Western flute graduate from the Talent Education Institute (Matsumoto, Japan). Faculty member, Georgetown University. Director, Jonathan Snowden International Flute School. Co-Director, SAGWA Suzuki Flute Institute. Former faculty member, Suzuki-Orff School for Young Musicians. Seth Cook

SETH COOK (Tuba)
M.M. McGill University, B.M. Northwestern University magna cum laude. Studied with Dennis Miller, Rex Martin, Warren Deck and John Manning. Two time winner of the American Brass Quintet Aspen Music Festival fellowship. Performed with the National Symphony Orchestra, the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra, the National Philharmonic, members of the Vienna Philharmonic and the American Brass Quintet. Performances under Valery Gergiev, Fabio Luisi, Manfred Honeck, Peter Oundjian and Marvin Hamlisch.


Sophia Kim Cook

SOPHIA KIM COOK (ECEM, Accompanist)
M.Mus Piano Performance McGill University; B.Mus Honors Piano Performance McGill University; Conservatoire de musique de Montréal á Québec. Studied with Marina Mdivani, Richard Raymond, Kyoko Hashimoto, Andre Laplante, Lise Boucher for Solo Piano. Worked with Micheal McMahon, Stuart Hamilton, Kathleen Lohrenz Gable, Laura Lowen for Collaborative Piano. Winner Canadian Music Competition, Lakeshore Competition and the McGill University Concerto Competition, and, as an accompanist, finalist National Music Festival and semi-finalist Eckhardt-Gramattè Competition. Performed under the direction of Boris Brott, McGill Chamber Orchestra and Alexis Hauser, McGill University Symphony Orchestra. Along with her busy performing schedule, she headed the MMA (Mont-Royal Music Academy) Visual and Performing Arts Summer Camp for three years and taught students of all ages at numerous schools within Montreal.

Has recorded for Opus One, Orion, BIS, Phono Suecia, Spectrum and CRI. Faculty member, George Washington University.


MONICA DALE (MusiKinesis)
(M.M. Piano Performance, Ithaca College; B.A., Connecticut College; Jaques-Dalcroze License) is a proponent of Jaques-Dalcroze Eurhythmics and founder of MusiKinesis, a contemporary American approach to the traditional European method. Her professional dance background brings a unique dimension to her work in music. She's published six books and numerous articles, and has presented workshops and courses for schools and organizations nationwide. ALICIA DAY-JAVKHLAN (Suzuki cello)
Earned her BM in Cello from California State University, Long Beach, and is continuing her Suzuki method training under the tutelage of Levine faculty member Alice Vierra. Ms. Day-Javkhlan has been the principal cellist with the CSU, Long Beach Symphony Orchestra. She has also served as an Orchestra Director and Strings Teacher in several public-school settings, has taught cello at Levine's own Music and Arts Day Camp, and has maintained a private teaching studio for over ten years.


MATTHEW DIEVENDORF (Guitar)
BFA, University of Michigan. Featured guitarist accompanying Joan Morris 'Nurse's Song,’ a track on the 2005 Grammy-winning (Best Classical Performance) 'Songs of Innocence and of Experience'. Performances with Hank Jones, Donald Walden, and Count Basie Orchestra as guitarist in the University of Michigan Jazz Ensemble. Guitarist US Marine Band Parris Island, 1998-2001.


ELLEN DOOLEY (Flute)
Graduate of the Peabody Institute and Carnegie Mellon University. Current member of “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band. Former professor of flute at Elizabethtown College and performed in educational outreach programs for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and the Choral Arts Society of Washington.


faculty_Danielle Dotson

DANIELLE DOTSON (Suzuki piano)
Earned her Australian Licentiate of Music in Piano in 1990. Additionally, she holds an MA in Education from George Washington University and expects to complete her Certificate IV VETAB in Suzuki Method (piano) in 2008. Ms. Dotson spent almost 18 years in Sydney, Australia playing viola, violin and piano in various ensembles, duos and quartets, and was extensively involved in the Suzuki community there. Furthermore, she spent two years in Japan where she taught piano privately.


EDDIE DRENNON (Jazz Violin)
Member of the Umoja String Quartet. Studied violin at Howard University; previously studied with Samuel Applebaum and Ugo Carano. As a featured soloist with the Bo Diddley Blues Band and Orquesta Novel, he performed in Africa, the Caribbean, Europe, North and South America. Eddie has recorded with various artists including Ike & Tina Turner, La India, Ray Barretto, Buster Williams and SOJA.


BETH ECKERT (Suzuki Piano)
MM in Piano Performance - University of Memphis, BA in Piano Performance - Rhodes College. Founder, Rhodes College Suzuki Program, Memphis; Director, The Music Academy, Rhodes College. Producer and editor of the Rhodes College Music Academy Theory Curriculum. Guest clinician at Suzuki Piano Institutes in the DC area and throughout the southeast.


CLAIRE EICHHORN (Clarinet)
BM, University of Michigan; studies at Indiana University. Co-founder and Music Director of the Ensemble da Camera of Washington. Former member of the Washington Chamber Symphony. Performances at the Highlands Chamber Music Festival and with the Kennedy Center Opera Orchestra, Baltimore Opera, Virginia Chamber Orchestra, Washington Concert Opera, National Gallery Orchestra and the National Symphony Orchestra.


MARTHA ETHINGTON (Suzuki Flute)
M. Science, Oxford University; BA, University of Utah; studied with Mr. Toshio Takahashi, Talent Education Institute (Matsumoto, Japan). Certified Teacher, Suzuki Flute Method levels 1A-12. Co-developed and introduced K-6 materials for use in Utah's public schools. Former humanitarian aid administrator in Mali, Africa.

BM from Oberlin; MM in Clarinet from Catholic University . Assistant principal clarinet in the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra and clarinetist with the Capitol Woodwind Quintet. Faculty member of George Washington University and George Mason University.

PHYLLIS FLEMING (Violin, Viola, Assistant to String Chair)
BS, Wayne State University; Graduate Study, University of Michigan. Spent many years as an instrumental music instructor in Michigan schools, education coordinator with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and violinist with numerous orchestras and chamber ensembles, including the Michigan Chamber Orchestra, Windsor Symphony Orchestra, Savannah Symphony, Harlem Festival Orchestra and the Baltimore Opera Orchestra.

MA, Clarinet Performance Columbia University; BA, Clarinet Performance University of Miami. Former principal clarinetist, National Symphony Orchestra. Has performed with the National Ballet and Washington Opera Orchestras. Recitals at Carnegie Hall, Phillips Gallery & the National Gallery. Faculty Member at Peabody Conservatory of Music for over 40 years.


GREGORY FREEMAN (Trombone)
Master of Music in Trombone Performance from Northwestern University; Bachelor of Music in Education from George Mason University. Current member of Monumental Brass Quintet. Performed with Washington Symphony Orchestra, Capital Wind Symphony, Washington Revels Brass Quintet, and Sherwood Symphony (IL). Private trombone instructor.


BRIAN FRYE (Metropolitan Winds)
BM in Music Education from Seton Hill University in Greensburg, PA, with an emphasis on euphonium. Currently, he is a Music Educator at Alice Deal Middle School in Washington, D.C. His ensembles have participated in several competitions, receiving superior ratings and first place recognition. In addition to performing regularly, Brian has worked with numerous musical theater productions in PA, WV and MD as guest conductor or musical director.

EUGENE GALVIN (Voice)
DMA, University of Maryland. Soloist with Washington, Cleveland, New York Grand, Sarasota, Cincinnati, Wolf Trap Operas: Summer Opera Theater Co, Opera Theater Northern VA, Kennedy Center: National, Williamsburg and Arlington Symphonies. Performances with Victor Borge, Patti Lupone, Ute Lemper. Over forty roles including Figaro, Basilio, DeBecque, Colline, Gremin. Teaches voice & stage movement at Catholic University.


Martin Gendelman

MARTIN GENDELMAN (Music Theory and History)
The music of composer Martín Gendelman has been performed in the United States, Europe, and South America, and has been the subject of various academic lectures, in both Italy and Argentina. As and educator, he has taught at several institutions in the metropolitan areas of Baltimore and Washington DC, including the University of Maryland, Towson University, The Catholic University of America, and the Levine School of Music. In June of 2008, Dr. Gendelman pursed professional development in Berlin, Germany, with partial support from a grant awarded by the Levine School of Music. http://www.martingendelman.com/


HEIDI GERBER (Recording Arts)
A veteran audio professional working in the Washington DC area since 1991. Owner and founder of All Access Audio, Inc., a full service audio recording and production company in Silver Spring, MD. Ms. Gerber's specialty is recording and producing all forms of acoustic music.


ANNA GERRISH (Early Childhood & Elementary Music, Piano)
M.M. Eastman School of Music (Music Education, Piano Performance & Literature); B.M. Utah State University (Piano Performance and Pedagogy). Former adjunct faculty at Middle Tennessee State University (Music Education) and Belmont University (Piano, Theory & Ear Training Dept). Faculty member of the Sun Valley Summer Music Festival. Studied with Gary Amano, Thomas Shumacher, Doug Humpherys and Madeleine Hsu-Forte.


NOAH GETZ (Saxophone)
DDM, Saxophone Performance, Florida State University; MM, Saxophone Performance, Manhattan School of Music; BM, Saxophone Performance, Oberlin Conservatory, Music Education minor. Former Grammy nominee. Has performed around the country, including concerts at Carnegie Hall. Teaches jazz and classical saxophone at American and Georgetown Universities.


JOHN GEVORKIAN (Cello)
Soloist and principal cellist of the Washington Metropolitan Philharmonic. Professor of Cello at Columbia Union College. His students have been winners of multiple competitions. Dr. Gevorkian has performed as a soloist and as a member of chamber ensembles in Europe and USA. His performances have included appearances at Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center.


PEPE GONZALEZ (String Bass)
Has studied classical, jazz, and Afro-Caribbean styles for over 30 years. Performing largely within the jazz and Afro-Caribbean idioms, he has performed with many of the top national and international icons in the jazz world. Pepe has played many jazz festivals in the Caribbean, Europe, South America, United States, and on numerous recordings.

DMA & MM in Piano Performance from Almaty Conservatory, Kazakhstan; BM in Piano Performance, Odessa Music College. Professor at Kazakh State Conservatory for 25 years. Toured throughout eastern Russian as a member of The Shostakovich Trio. Former faculty member of the California Music Institute.

NANCY HALLSTED (Piano)
Degrees in Piano, (Perry Beach and Stewart Gordon principal teachers) and Music History and Literature from the University of Southern California. At USC, studied with harpsichordist Alice Ehlers and vocal accompaniment with Gwendolyn Koldofsky. She has been a participant and presenter in various international Piano Pedagogy Workshops in Europe, Hawaii, Canada and Australia, where she coached chamber and piano ensemble with Jean Barr.


Jiyon Han

JIYON HAN (Piano) Jiyon Han earned her BA in Music Theory and Piano from Mannes College of Music and her MA in Music Education from Teachers College at Columbia University. She also holds a Diploma in Piano Performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. For the past five years she has been an adjunct faculty member of Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA, where she has taught piano and music theory.


KRYSTA HAWKLEY (Piano)
BA in Music, Goshen College (Indiana); M.M. in Piano Pedagogy and Performance, Westminster Choir College of Rider University (New Jersey). Krysta has taught at the Community Music Schools of Goshen and Westminster. She has performed with the Goshen College Orchestra, and has participated in masterclasses by Chiu-Ling Lin, William Westney, and John Ellis.

CARLA HUBNER (Piano)
Protege of legendary pianist Claudio Arrau. Won international critical acclaim for her performances in London, Berlin, Rome, New York and Latin America, including her native Chile, during the 1970s-80s. She is the Artistic Director of the In Series, a DC presenter of innovative opera and cabaret productions.

D.M.A and M.M. Eric Maring recently spent a year in India with his family studying tabla (Indian percussion). He is also a guitarist and performing songwriter for young and adult audiences with several CDs. He is grateful to be teaching music at both Levine's outreach school, New Image Center, and at University of Maryland’s Center for Young Children. He also performs environmental awareness programs in elementary schools and teaches guitar. Most importantly, he’s the proud father of his 4-year-old son, Leo.

PETER SIROTIN (Violin)
Ukrainian-born violinist Peter Sirotin has received his education at Moscow State Conservatory and Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore. He is a founding member of the Mendelssohn piano trio, ensemble-in-residence with the Embassy Series in Washington and at Messiah College in PA. With this group Mr. Sirotin has toured internationally and recorded several CDs for Centaur Records.


Tracy Anne Smith

TRACY ANNE SMITH (Guitar)
As a visiting artist at International Festivals, Tracy Anne Smith has performed in solo recitals, taught Masterclasses and served as a Competition jury member. She has played for such luminaries as Oscar Ghiglia, David Russell, Manuel Barrueco, and Leo Brouwer. Currently, Tracy is completing a DMA degree at Peabody, building on a Master’s Degree from Yale, and an Undergraduate degree from University of Toronto.


KENNETH STILWELL (Oboe, Music Theory)
MM in Oboe Performance from Peabody Conservatory and BM & BA from Oberlin Conservatory. Student of James Caldwell, Joseph Turner and Alex Klein. Has performed with Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and Delaware, Annapolis, Maryland and Lancaster Symphony Orchestras. Former Adjunct Faculty at Towson University, University of Alaska Fine Arts Festival and Baltimore School for the Arts.


KERRY McCARTHY STILWELL (Voice)
BA, Boston University Opera Institute. Soloist with Santa Fe Opera, Washington Opera, Boston Symphony, Edinburgh Festival, Opera Company of Boston, Boston Lyric Opera, Tulsa Opera, Ft. Worth Opera, Kennedy Center, and Cathedral Choral Society. Recitals at Strathmore Hall, Embassy Series, the Lyceum, Corcoran Gallery of Art and with Richard Stilwell.


SCOTT STONE (Guitar)
BM from Vanderbilt University; studied under John Johns and Joe Rea Phillips. Founding member of Blair Student Guitar Quartet. Winner of Sue Brewer Award. Masterclass/coachings with Lily Afshar, Pepe Romero, Mark Switzer, John Kochanowski and Edgar Meyer.

MARGARET STRICKLETT (Voice)
DMA, University of Maryland; MM from the SUNY-Binghamton; BM from University of Maryland. Roles with Washington National Opera, Washington Concert Opera, Tri-Cities Opera. Concert solo work includes AIMS Orchestra, Binghamton Symphony Orchestra, Alexandria Chorale, and Paul Hill Washington Singers. Awards include Homer Ulrich Award and NATS. Regional Winner and Semi-Finalist, Mid-Atlantic Metropolitan Opera Competition.


JENNIFER SUESS (Voice)
MM in Opera Performance from University of Maryland and BM from Boston Conservatory of Music. Attended American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria. Featured soloist at the Kennedy Center, the Washington National Cathedral, Constitution Hall, Merkin Hall in New York, Saunders Theatre in Boston and the Salzburg's Dom and Universitatkirche.


AKIKO SUMI (Guitar, Suzuki Guitar)
Graduate Performance Diploma in Guitar Performance and Chamber Music, Peabody Conservatory of Music. Student of Manuel Barrueco. BM of Biological Science, Science University of Tokyo. Member of Aurora Guitar Quartet, Sumi Guitar Duo, and duoMare with flutist Rachel Choe. With the Aurora Guitar Quartet, she debuted at Carnegie Hall 2002.

Piano studies with Ward Davenny, Claude Frank, Kurt Neumüller, Walter Panhofer and Alexander Sverjensky. Soloist and accompanist in Australia, Europe and eastern US. Served as Vice-President of the Maryland State and Baltimore Music Teachers' Associations.

Washington DC's internationally renowned African American women a capella quintet is dedicated to the preservation and celebration of African American culture through performance. Sweet Honey members are Bernice Johnson Reagon, Ysaye Maria Barnwell, Nitanju Bolade Casel, Shirley Childress Johnson, Aisha Kahlil and Carol Maillard.

Gold medal at the San Antonio International Piano Competition. Regularly performs with local ensembles such as the Smithsonian Chamber Players and the Post Classical Ensemble. Solo appearances with the Alexandria Symphony and the Ohio Valley Symphony. Former faculty member of Rocky Ridge Music Center. Studied with Santiago Rodriguez, Anne Koscielny, Raymond Hanson, and Nathan Schwartz.


MICHAEL TERRY (Accompanist)
Studied at The Cleveland Music School Settlement with Dante Piociotti and Howard University. He has taught at the Cleveland Music Academy. Has performed with The Cleveland Orchestra and has performed with many theatrical productions in the U.S. and Europe.


JULIAN TRAIL (Piano, Music Theory and History)
BM in Piano Performance and Pedagogy, Appalachian State University; MM, Hartt School of Music. Studies at the Hochschule for Music and the Musikwiessenschfliches Institute, Vienna. Former Director of Applied Music and the Preparatory Division, American University. Former Assistant Dean, Levine School. Performance contracts with NASA, National Archives and Columbia Artists. CORINNE MVOU TURNER (Early Childhood & Elementary Music)
Degree in Voice from the Conservatoire Regionale du Bordeaux. Studies in Orff Schulwerk from George Mason University. Diploma in Marketing and Accounting from Ecole Superieure de Commerce et Administration. Various voice recitals throughout Libreville, Gabon in Africa. ECM faculty member and former director of the Children’s Treble Choir.


ERIC ULREICH (Guitar)
BM in Classical Guitar Performance, George Mason University. Performances at Strathmore Hall and the Kennedy Center. Musical Director for the DCPM Management Company (N.Y.), conducting shows with groups including The Drifters, The Platters, The Coasters, The Tokens, Glenn Leonard's Temptations, and Harold Melvin's Blue Notes. Solo recording Autumn Dreams to be released in 2007.

Faculty of American University. Recital appearances in the United States and Canada. Finalist with Honorable Mention, 2002 Bartok-Kabalevsky-Prokofiev International Piano Competition. DMA in progress, Indiana University.


JEFF VAN OSTEN (Cello)
Degrees in cello and viola de gamba from Indiana University. Teachers included Janos Starker and Gary Hoffman. Performances with the Arlington, Alexandria, and Prince William Symphonies and at several embassies. Member of the Divertimento Ensemble.


ALICE VIERRA (Suzuki Cello)
BM in Cello Performance, University of Iowa; MM, the University of Wisconsin. Teaches part time in the Fairfax County Schools. Registered Teacher Trainer for the Suzuki Association of the Americas and has taught at many institutes and workshops across the United States. Member of the Hans Kindler Cello Board. Member of the Fairfax Symphony and the Washington Bach Consort.


MIKHAIL VOLCHOK (Piano)
DMA & MM in Piano Performance from St. Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory. BM from Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory. At the age of 25 won the Bach International Competition in Leipzig. Soloist with the Moscow Philharmonic. Piano faculty at the University of Maryland.

Accompanist for the Interlochen Summer Arts Program and the Brevard Music Festival.


PATRICK WHITEHEAD (Trumpet)
Performances with Annapolis, Baltimore, and Gettysburg Symphonies, Annapolis and Baltimore Opera Companies and Concert Artists of Baltimore. Founding member of Monumental Brass Quintet (MBQ). Performs with MBQ throughout the U.S; recorded for MBQ for ABC Television. Has performed with orchestras and chamber ensembles at the Kennedy Center, Constitution Hall, and Meyerhoff Symphony Hall.


CHARLES WILLIAMS (Voice)
Voice/Opera instructor, Hochschule fur Musik Berlin. International opera debut at Festival of Two Worlds, Spoleto, Italy. Performed in theaters, radio & television in Munich, Hamburg, Berlin, Zurich and Vienna. Metropolitan Opera debut as Sportin' Life, Porgy and Bess. Featured role in The Temptation of St. Anthony, Paris Opera. Vocal workshops and master classes in Berlin, Salzburg and the U.S.

Charles Williams and Tom Teasley combine their talents and visions to form a program of song, spoken word and percussion. They perform frequently throughout the US and Europe. Their recordings are featured on radio stations throughout the world.


MARGARET WRIGHT (Violin, Viola, Chamber Music)
B.A. Smith College, M.A. Vassar College. Taught privately over 45 years and at Levine since 1979. Performed in orchestras for opera, ballet and Broadway shows at Kennedy Center and Wolf Trap. Students of hers accepted at music schools including Juilliard, Oberlin, Cleveland and Eastman. Many have won local and regional competitions and become members of top local youth orchestras.
